I visited Ganso Ramen Nagahama-ke (known as Ie 2) located in the Kawabata Street Shopping District in Nakasu-Kawabata, Fukuoka. Here, ramen is priced at 700 yen, with additional servings of noodles and meat available for 150 yen each. The prices are slightly higher compared to other Ganso Nagahama Ramen locations, likely due to its central location. Despite this, it remains a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike.

Payment and Ordering Method

At “Ie 2,” you can’t pay directly with cash; instead, all orders are made through a vending machine that dispenses meal tickets. The machine is located inside the restaurant, allowing you to choose your menu items and purchase tickets. The menu includes the same types of ramen as other Ganso Nagahama Ramen shops, offering ramen, extra noodles, extra meat, and drinks.

I ordered “Beta Nama” and “Extra Noodles”

This time, I ordered the classic “Beta Nama” (extra oil, raw noodles) with extra green onions. I left about two-thirds of the soup and called out, “Katai Tama!” to order extra noodles. As I continued eating, the flavor of the soup deepened, making every bite enjoyable until the end. For the second serving of extra noodles, I added a little ramen sauce and some sesame seeds to change up the taste. Be careful not to mix up the kettles! The small kettle is for ramen sauce, and the large one is for tea.

The Charm of Kawabata Shopping Street

Across from “Ie-ni” (House 2), there are several other ramen shops lined up. Kawabata Shopping Street itself is full of shops that reflect Hakata’s history and traditions, making it a popular tourist spot. It’s also fun to stroll around and sample foods, like enjoying tea at a zenzai (sweet red bean soup) shop while viewing a Yamakasa (festival float). It’s a convenient place to visit, close to the city center, where you can find traditional souvenirs and immerse yourself in local culture.

Summary

“Ganso Ramen Nagahama-ya (Ie2)” is an authentic Nagahama ramen shop located in the heart of Hakata. It’s easily accessible, though prices are a bit higher due to its central location. However, the flavor is just as delicious as any other Ganso Nagahama ramen. After enjoying a bowl, I recommend exploring Kawabata Shopping Street, where you can sample sweets, or pick up traditional Hakata souvenirs like Hakata textiles and dolls. Be sure to visit Ganso Ramen Nagahama-ya (Ie2) and take a stroll through Kawabata Shopping Street!
