I visited “Tora Shokudo Fukuoka Branch,” a ramen restaurant located along the street on the south side of Ropponmatsu Nishi Intersection. This area is known for having a high concentration of quality dining establishments, and I had the pleasure of visiting Tora Shokudo for this occasion.
In conclusion, it was delicious! At “Tora Shokudo Fukuoka Branch,” you can savor the high-level Shirakawa Ramen from Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture. They have a strong commitment to each ingredient, such as wheat flour, water, and roasted pork, and their handmade ramen is of the highest quality. It has a distinct flavor compared to tonkotsu ramen, but I believe it offers one of the best tastes among ramen shops in Fukuoka.
What kind of restaurant is “Tora Shokudo Fukuoka Branch?”
“Torashokudo” is a long-established ramen restaurant founded in 1969, with its main branch located in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture. It is known as the birthplace of “Shirakawa Ramen.” They take pride in their handcrafted Chinese-style noodles. The predecessor, Torai Takedai, opened the first ramen shop in Shirakawa, and since then, his disciples have continued to open their own shops. Now, there are approximately a hundred ramen shops lining the streets of Shirakawa City.
The interior of Torashokudo is simple yet clean, creating a welcoming atmosphere for female customers as well. It offers both counter seating and table seating, making it suitable for individuals as well as groups. The staff, consisting of male members, provides attentive service, ensuring that even first-time visitors can enjoy their meal with peace of mind.
I ordered the “Handmade Shoyu Ramen” this time. The handmade shoyu ramen at Tora Shokudo is known for its thick and curly noodles. The noodles have a chewy texture that pairs perfectly with the soup. With each bite, the umami flavor of the soup spreads throughout the mouth. It’s incredibly delicious. By adding the finely chopped “green onions” provided on the table, you can enjoy an even wider range of flavors. The aromatic flavor of the green onions enhances the taste of the ramen.
Fukuoka is famous for its tonkotsu ramen, but the handcrafted Chinese-style noodles from Fukushima, which you can enjoy here, have an exceptional and unique deliciousness. On my next visit, I plan to challenge the other option, the “Handcrafted Salt Ramen.” “Tora Shokudo” is not only loved by locals but also highly recommended for tourists. It’s located just a few minutes away from Ropponmatsu Station, so I encourage you to savor its flavors.
Sequel
I also tried the handcrafted salt ramen on another occasion! It was refreshing and delicious, although personally, I prefer the handcrafted soy sauce ramen. Which one do you prefer, everyone? Please let me know by comparing them when you have the chance!
