Original Pork Bowl Restaurant TONTON

A new donburi (rice bowl) restaurant has emerged in Ropponmatsu. Opened on May 24, 2023, this recently established establishment is called “Original Pork Bowl Restaurant TONTON.” I had the pleasure of savoring their specialty, the famous Butadon (pork bowl) from Hokkaido’s Obihiro city!

“Original Pork Bowl Restaurant TONTON” is a restaurant that has franchise locations across Japan, including Tokyo and Osaka. The interior of the restaurant is a bit small, but it offers counter seats, table seats, providing a casual and welcoming atmosphere. It has only been open for about a month, but it has already been featured on Fukuoka’s TV program called “Web Tenjin,” so it’s likely to gain popularity in the future. From the posters, it seems that they focus on high-quality meat and carefully grill each slice. It’s definitely something to look forward to!

I ordered the Pork Belly Rice Bowl.

I ordered the Pork Belly Rice Bowl this time. It came with miso soup and pickles.

The pork was thick and juicy, with a rich and flavorful seasoning. Although there were sauces, shichimi (seven spice), and sansho (Japanese pepper) provided on the table, the dish was already delicious on its own without them. The meat was simply amazing, and I was able to savor the taste of Hokkaido’s pork bowl!
