Located in the Nagahama area of Fukuoka, “Nagahama Number One” has been a local favorite for decades. Established in 1971, this long-running ramen shop now has six locations in Fukuoka. The Nagahama branch is special because it’s open nearly 24 hours and also serves oden and izakaya-style dishes.
It all started as a food stall near the Nagahama Market. Today, it’s one of Fukuoka’s most beloved ramen spots, alongside the famous “Ganso Nagahama” ramen shops. Locals and tourists alike keep coming back for its authentic flavors.

Simple Yet Deep Flavor – Nagahama Number One’s Tonkotsu Ramen
Sitting at the counter, I ordered my ramen “Bari-Kata” (extra firm noodles). When my bowl arrived, I could tell right away—it was a perfectly balanced bowl of ramen.
- 【Soup】
Slowly simmered tonkotsu broth with rich yet smooth flavor. It has a creamy texture but leaves a clean aftertaste. - 【Noodles】
Thin, classic Nagahama-style noodles. They absorb the broth perfectly, making it hard to stop eating! - 【Chashu (Pork)】
Thick-cut yet tender. The flavor is well-infused, making each bite delicious.

Kaedama & Spicy Takana for an Extra Kick!
After finishing the first bowl, I ordered a Kaedama (extra noodles, Bari-Kata style). This time, I added spicy takana (pickled mustard greens) and red ginger for a flavor boost! The spicy takana is an extra option, but the red ginger is free and available at the table. If you prefer a stronger taste, add a little “ramen sauce” from the condiments on the table.

How is It Different from “Ganso Nagahama Ramen”?
When people think of Nagahama Ramen, they often think of Ganso Nagahama-style shops like “Nagahama-ya” and “Nagahama-ke”. However, Nagahama Number One’s soup has a richer and creamier taste right from the start. If you enjoy a deep tonkotsu flavor, this is the perfect place for you! Plus, it offers izakaya-style dishes, making it great for a relaxed meal.

A Ramen Shop Where Everyone Feels Welcome
The shop provides free hair ties at the table, which is a thoughtful touch for female customers. I even saw young women dining alone, showing that it’s a comfortable place for everyone.
The staff is diverse and international, but all of them are friendly and welcoming. Their service adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere.
