A perfect 1-night, 2-day date trip from Fukuoka!

This article is based on my real experience with my girlfriend. We explored the retro streets of Mojiko and the amazing ocean views of Tsunoshima. I’ll also share hotel and food tips that are perfect for couples!

Day 1: From Fukuoka to Mojiko – Night Views and a Romantic Stay

5:30 PM – Check-in at GRAND BASE Mojiko Ekimae

We left Fukuoka City in the evening and headed to our first stop: Mojiko in Kitakyushu.

We stayed at GRAND BASE Mojiko Ekimae, a stylish hotel with self check-in and secure ID verification. Our room was on the second floor—spacious, clean, and very comfortable with a kitchen and large windows. The bedroom had tatami-style flooring, and we could relax while watching Netflix on the big-screen TV!

7:00 PM – Evening Walk in Mojiko Retro Area

At 7 PM, as the sky got darker, we walked to the Mojiko Retro area. The night lights were beautiful, especially at the Blue Wing Moji, a pedestrian drawbridge known as a “Lover’s Spot.”

It’s said that couples who cross the bridge together will stay happy. We saw other couples doing the same, and of course, we took some photos there, too. The romantic streets of Mojiko Retro gave us a peaceful and unforgettable evening walk.

8:00 PM – Local Night Food to Go!

On the way back, we stopped by the Mojiko Sakaemachi Shopping Street. At a shop called “SeaGrace,” still open at night, we got takeout: the famous Kanmon Strait Parfait and a bowl of Fugu and Shrimp Tempura Udon.

We brought it back to the hotel and enjoyed our late-night meal while watching comedy shows together on the big-screen TV. While “Baked Curry” is the classic Mojiko specialty, my girlfriend wanted seafood this time—showing how Mojiko Retro offers tasty variety for every mood!

Day 2: From Mojiko to Tsunoshima – Stunning Views and Delicious Seafood

10:00 AM – Check Out and Scenic Drive to Tsunoshima

We checked out of the hotel a little late and started our drive to Tsunoshima, a beautiful island in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

11:30 AM – Photo Stop at Tsunoshima Bridge

We arrived at the famous photo spot, Tsunoshima Bridge. There’s a park with parking right before the bridge, and we stopped there to take photos with the emerald-green ocean and the long, scenic bridge in the background. It was a very popular place—even many foreign tourists were visiting!

12:00 PM – Visit to Tsunoshima Lighthouse

We crossed the bridge and headed to the Tsunoshima Lighthouse. After buying tickets at the base, we climbed the spiral stairs up to the top. The lighthouse will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year! The wind was strong at the top, so be careful with your hat. Afterward, we strolled around the coastline nearby.

1:00 PM – Lunch at “Fresh Shiokaze no Sato”

We had lunch at this casual local restaurant with great views. At Fresh Shiokaze no Sato, you can enjoy fresh seafood and local ingredients. My girlfriend had a seafood rice bowl, and I got the turban shell rice set. We shared our meals while looking out at the beach. It’s cash only, but the parking lot is large and free.
