In October 2025, the super popular Qipao Malatang opened its second Fukuoka branch in Ropponmatsu! The Tenjin shop is always crowded, but this new one is easier to get into and only a 5-minute walk from Ropponmatsu Subway Station.
How to Enter the Ropponmatsu Branch
At this branch, you first wait at the entrance area. The staff will call you when it’s your turn, so just wait until they guide you inside.
The place is always lively, and customers come and go quickly. Even if it’s your first visit, just follow the flow—it’s easy!

Easy Guide: How to Order at Qipao Malatang
Don’t worry if it’s your first time! The staff kindly explains how to order step by step, so anyone can do it easily. I followed along and ordered smoothly.

① Choose Your Ingredients
The best part of Malatang is choosing your favorite ingredients! You’ll find a big showcase filled with vegetables, mushrooms, and other toppings. You can even add extras like shrimp or cheese.
The price is calculated by weight: ¥3.1 per gram. It’s fun to pick and control the amount yourself.
Here’s what I picked 👇
- Spinach
- Eggplant
- Mini tomato
- Baby corn
- Cheese tteokbokki
- Black fungus
- Straw mushroom
- Xiaolongbao (soup dumpling)

② Choose the Spice Level (0–10)
At the counter, you can choose the spice level from 0 to 10. I love spicy food but didn’t want to sweat, so I picked level 1. For first-timers, 1–2 is a safe choice.
From level 4 and up, there’s an extra charge of ¥88 each level.
③ Choose Your Base (from ¥620)
The basic Malatang (soup + glass noodles) starts at ¥620. You can change the noodles or soup flavor for a small extra fee.
- Glass noodles (default)
- Chinese noodles (+¥150)
- Konjac noodles (+¥150)
- Seaweed noodles (+¥150)
- Extra noodles (+¥150)
- Malatang (default)
- Tom Yum (+¥150)
- Sesame Tantan (+¥150)
- Hot and Sour (+¥150)
- Herbal (+¥150)
- Gokuraku Special (+¥150)
You can also add toppings here. I chose shrimp, and thanks to the LINE registration bonus, I got cheese for free!
- + Scallop (+¥150)
- + Squid (+¥150)
- + Shrimp (+¥150)
- + Chicken (+¥150)
- + Lamb (+¥150)
- + Beef (+¥150)
- + Coriander (+¥150)
- + Mozzarella cheese (+¥150)
- Many more toppings available!
My total came to ¥1,476. It’s great because you can build your bowl exactly how you like!
After paying at the touchscreen register, the staff will guide you to a seat. Then just wait for your hot, delicious bowl to arrive!
Amazing Table Seasonings – Endless Ways to Customize Your Bowl
One thing I really loved at Qipao Malatang is the huge selection of table seasonings.
- Sichuan pepper
- Black vinegar
- Garlic
- Ginger, and more…
With these, you can easily change the flavor halfway through and enjoy your bowl in different ways. It feels like you’re eating two or three different dishes in one!

Time to Eat! Create Your Perfect Bowl
The soup is full of rich umami flavor, with a nice balance of heat and aroma. The glass noodles soak up the broth well, making every bite delicious until the very end.
Malatang and cheese also go surprisingly well together. With plenty of vegetables, the dish feels healthy but still very satisfying.

Ropponmatsu Shop – A Hidden Gem With Shorter Lines
The Tenjin shop usually has long lines, but the Ropponmatsu shop is much easier to enter and often has shorter waiting times.
It’s only about a 5-minute walk from Ropponmatsu Station, so it’s very convenient to visit.
