I visited the ultimate cost-effective tonkotsu ramen spot, “Karakiya” in Ropponmatsu.
What kind of restaurant is Karakiya?
The ramen here is only 390 yen. Until recently, it was 350 yen, and a few years ago, it was as low as 290 yen. Prices have been gradually increasing, but given the current circumstances, it’s understandable.

It’s still quite affordable. Last order is until midnight, and the shop stays open until 1 AM, which is loved by many locals. It operates on a prepaid system, so be careful as the ticket machine is located in the back of the shop.
iPhone ordered the teppanyaki fried rice set.
I ordered the teppanyaki fried rice set for 740 yen. It had been a while since my last visit, and iPhone noticed that this menu item wasn’t available before.

The ramen has a tonkotsu flavor with added pork fat, giving it a brownish color. The noodles are thin and smooth. As for the teppanyaki fried rice, it has a simple taste but is served piping hot with a crispy texture, making it quite satisfying to eat.
