I parked my bicycle at the Kawabata Bicycle Parking and visited FIKA COFFEE on the 1st floor of Hakata Riverain, which is very close by. The exterior is stylish, and the logo looks great too!

What kind of place is “FIKA COFFEE”?

“Fika Coffee” is a coffee shop that opened in 2017 and specializes in freshly roasted coffee. The name “FIKA” comes from the Swedish term for the habit of having coffee.

The name “FIKA COFFEE” was chosen with the wish that people would spend their time there just like the Swedes do – taking a relaxing break in between work, or gathering with friends and loved ones, enjoying coffee and sweet treats together.

The cute items for sale near the counter have a handmade charm, and the website’s personal touch from the staff is quite heartwarming. The lovable Maltese mascot, Maruo, often shows up, but I didn’t get to meet him during my evening visit.

I ordered a mentaiko mayo sandwich and an iced coffee.

The menu is also made by hand, and simply looking at it makes you feel excited. I was unsure about what to order, but I chose Mentaiko Mayo Sandwich and an iced coffee.

Mentaiko is a spicy fish eggs, a specialty of Fukuoka.

The coffee has a rich and delicious flavor. The sandwich was crispy on the outside and tasty too!

The cute dog illustrations, the pleasant atmosphere of the shop, and most importantly, the friendly staff made me extremely satisfied!
