This time, I visited Udon West Maizuru, located along Taisho Street in central Fukuoka. The location is perfect for a quick meal between sightseeing or after work. Plus, it’s open 24 hours, making it a great spot for an early morning udon fix!
The ordering system is simple: purchase a meal ticket from the self-service vending machine before taking a seat. The spacious interior feels like a casual family restaurant, and with counter seats available, it’s perfect for solo diners as well.
Fukuoka’s Signature Soft Noodles & Flavorful Dashi
Fukuoka udon is famous for its soft, chewy texture. Some might think “no firmness” sounds negative, but in Fukuoka, this is the perfect udon texture!
The broth is made with kombu (kelp) and iriko (dried anchovies), giving it a mild sweetness. Unlike soy sauce-based broth, Fukuoka udon has a lighter yet deeply flavorful taste. Once you try Udon West’s udon, you’ll understand why it’s so addictive.
