Namaste Dou Curry Center

I visited the curry restaurant “Namaste Dou Curry Center” located in the underground food court of the shopping mall “Sun Selco”. With high ratings on Google reviews beforehand, I had high expectations as I made my way there.

In conclusion, it was delicious, affordable, and enjoyable! It was the best curry restaurant!

What kind of restaurant is “Namaste Dou Curry Center”?

Heading downstairs to the underground of “Sun Selco”, a commercial facility just a 2-minute walk from Watanabe-dori Station on the Nanakuma Line subway.
The exterior stands out with its menu featuring a wide range of illustrations. The affordable prices are also surprising.

Stepping into the underground of “Sun Selco”, you can feel the history with numerous shops. Each shop showcases a strong individuality in one way or another. Some places have menus plastered all over the walls, while others show their support for the local football team, Avispa Fukuoka. Every shop exudes charm that makes you want to visit at least once. Although I had the inclination to stop by some of them, this time I made my way to the curry restaurant “Namaste Dou” as planned.

The menu posted at the entrance of Namaste Dou is quite distinctive.
They also pay attention to their coffee selection and quality.

The interior of the restaurant is also uniquely decorated, which adds an element of excitement. Along the walls, there are numerous curry packages with various designs, including local retort curry. These packages serve as eye-catching accents, ensuring that you won’t be bored while inside. Looking at the menu is even more surprising. The “Curry of the Day” is priced at 680 yen, and the coffee is only 150 yen. Moreover, it’s mentioned that they also pay attention to the coffee, just like their curry… It’s unbelievably affordable. I wonder what’s going on.

Homemade Hamburg Curry

I have ordered today’s Curry A (Homemade Hamburg Curry).

Their specialty coffee is priced at just 150 yen.

On this day, I ordered today’s Curry A (Homemade Hamburg Curry) and an iced coffee.

As for the taste of the curry, it was rich, flavorful, and the spices were well-balanced. It was delicious! It was truly delicious!

That’s why! It seems they are very particular about their curry. They soak ingredients such as dried baby sardines, kombu (kelp), and dried shiitake mushrooms overnight, then simmer them with pork bones, vegetables, and chicken carcasses for over three hours. They use tonkotsu (pork bone) soup, which is a characteristic of curry shops in Fukuoka. This tonkotsu soup plays a role in creating the richness, depth, and umami flavor in the curry, serving as the foundation of the broth.

Furthermore, they blend eight different spices to create their original garam masala, which is toasted and ground every morning to preserve its aroma. They also pay attention to the rice they serve. To bring out its deliciousness, they cook it directly over an open flame instead of using an electric rice cooker. The coffee also has a slightly unique Indian-style flavor, adding to the overall sense of dedication and attention to detail.

It’s truly amazing to be able to enjoy such delicious and meticulously crafted curry at such an affordable price. I highly recommend this place to everyone, and I hope you will visit and experience it for yourselves.
