The 100th Iizuka Summer Night Fireworks Festival

Iizuka City’s annual summer fireworks festival, held since the Taisho era (1912-1926), is a traditional event that enriches the summer season. Featuring spectacular displays like Niagara Falls, the event lights up the night sky with grand fireworks. The venue is surrounded by numerous stalls, attracting a lively crowd each year.

The 365th Chikugo River Fireworks Festival

The Chikugo River Fireworks Festival, with over 350 years of history, is a traditional event in Kurume City. The beautiful fireworks reflecting on the Chikugo River and the grand scale of about 15,000 fireworks make it one of the largest fireworks festivals in Kyushu.

The 37th Kanmon Strait Fireworks Festival

It is a large-scale fireworks festival. Started jointly by Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki in 1988, the Kanmon Strait Fireworks Festival experienced scale reductions during the pandemic but has marked its 37th edition this year since its revival last year.

The Meinohama Syoroh-nagashi Fireworks Festival

The Meinohama Syoroh-nagashi Fireworks Festival, held annually on August 15th at Marinatown Seaside Park, started in 1988 as part of the Bon Festival spirits floating tradition. This year marks its 36th edition.

The Miyako Town Summer Festival

The Miyako Town Summer Festival features stalls, stage events such as taiko drum performances, and at San-Great Miyako, a joint memorial service (commemoration ceremony) to honor war dead is held. Finally, around a thousand fireworks are launched.

The 38th Onga Town Summer Festival

The Onga Town Summer Festival, held in a town blessed with abundant nature surrounding the Onga River, features stage events and a ‘Mass Dance’ where spontaneous participation is welcome. The grand finale includes a spectacular display of 4,000 colorful fireworks, beautifully illuminating the night sky.

The Amagi River Fireworks Festival

The Amagi River Fireworks Festival features the illuminated Amagi Bridge over the Koishiwara River, adorned with lanterns. After the fireworks display, a memorial ceremony known as ‘Nagare Kanjo’ is conducted, where 60-70 lanterns are floated on the Amagi River. Additionally, around 100 stalls line the vicinity of the venue.

The Nakagawa Citizens’ Festival

The Nakagawa Citizens’ Summer Festival, with a history of 47 years, faced difficulties due to a five-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic and increased costs, making operation challenging. However, it was revived through the efforts of volunteers. The festival features around 30 food trucks and 60 stalls from local businesses. It culminates with fireworks launched from two locations.

The “Kosumoppe” is a representative event of the Keichiku region held in Yukuhashi City, Fukuoka Prefecture, attracting approximately 20,000 visitors annually. The name “Kosumoppe” is derived from the city flower of Yukuhashi, which is the cosmos flower.
