Introducing Fukuoka’s soul food and a local favorite snack, “Mucchan Manju.” This time, we visited the Jounan branch.
The name “Mucchan” is derived from “Mutsugoro” in Nagasaki.
With over 30 years of history, Mucchan Manju has gained numerous fans in Fukuoka, and I’m also a big fan. There are a total of 19 outlets, scattered throughout various locations within Fukuoka Prefecture.
The name “Mucchan” is derived from the fish “Mutugorou” that inhabits the Ariake Sea in Nagasaki. The founder, who was originally from Nagasaki, chose this name with the intention of preserving the name of the endangered Mutugorou for future generations.
I went ahead and placed an order.
I placed my order right away. I chose “Ham and Egg,” “Mucchang Burger,” and “Custard Cream.” I’m looking forward to it! Can’t wait to eat!
Mayonnaise that enhances the deliciousness.
The soft, castella-like dough and the filling inside it are perfectly matched and delicious. From head to tail, the filling is packed in tightly. The “Ham Egg” and “Mucchān Burger” I had this time also came with Mucchān’s special mayonnaise, which was also fantastic. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, don’t hesitate to try the “Custard Cream” as well.
“Mutchan Manju” has become a staple snack for the people of Fukuoka due to its convenience, deliciousness, and affordability. I encourage everyone to give it a try!
