Let me introduce a popular ramen shop among young people in Fukuoka City, “Tomato Ramen Sanmi (333).” It’s pronounced “sanmi.” Everyone from teenagers to people in their 30s knows this place. The taste and cost performance are amazing!
Open 24 hours! I especially recommend visiting between 7 AM and 5 PM.
Sanmi (333) is open 24 hours, so you can visit anytime. At the Hakata Station East branch, which I often visit, all ramen, including tomato ramen, is offered at an amazing price of 390 yen from 7 AM to 5 PM. Students can get it for 330 yen by showing their student ID!
There is no other place where you can enjoy such affordable and delicious ramen. For students and young people, it’s truly the best cost-performance ramen shop. Since it’s not well-known among tourists yet, you don’t have to wait in long lines like at other famous places!
The signature dish is Tomato Ramen
You can choose from three types of ramen: “Tomato Ramen,” “Soy Milk Ramen,” and “Spicy Ramen.”
The Tomato Ramen on the signature menu is a dish where the tomato flavor of the soup perfectly matches the thin noodles. It has a strong sweetness and umami flavor rather than acidity, creating a well-balanced taste. It’s topped with spinach and celery, which go very well with the tomato soup. Instead of char siu, it’s topped with boiled pork, which pairs excellently with the soup. The straight thin noodles, typical of Hakata style, have a good firmness and their wheat flavor harmonizes with the tomato soup.
Also, I recommend trying the risotto set, which uses the ramen soup, for an additional 160 yen. You can choose between cheese or egg types of risotto. I recommend the cheese type. It pairs really well with the tomato soup! By the way, it also goes well with the soy milk ramen soup. To order the risotto, leave some soup in your ramen bowl and hand the risotto ticket to the staff.
Soy Milk Ramen is also recommended.
Besides Tomato Ramen, I also recommend the Soy Milk Ramen. Its creamy soup is addictive and just as delicious as the Tomato Ramen. For those concerned about calories, you can change the noodles to konjac noodles for an additional 100 yen.
Additionally, a set of 3 dumplings is 110 yen, which is also a great deal. You can choose from shrimp dumplings, cheese dumplings, or meat dumplings.
You can enjoy a satisfying meal with ramen, risotto, and dumplings for just over 600 yen.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant and the ordering system.
The restaurant has about four table seats and six sunken kotatsu-style seats. Both are spacious enough to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. Orders are placed using a ticket system; you purchase a ticket and hand it to the staff. One thing to note is that they only accept cash, so make sure to bring cash when you visit.
